My life is really busy. I've got two little boys (no, I don't wish I had a girl) and a Gus (puppy), all of whom slobber on me, wrestle with me, accidentally pee on me, and fill my days with endless laughter and joy. Ohh, and dirt. My issue isn't whether this shirt goes with those pants; it's which shirt hides more signs of boy. It's the life of a girl surrounded by truckloads of testosterone seeking a little perspective and the occasional opportunity to pee on my own.

Outer Banks Fun
Vacation is definitely better than reality. We saw a pod of dolphins this morning when we started our morning on the beach at seven am!! Dave taught Jakie to body surf who declared it "totally wicked!" Atticus and I wave jumped and dodged the jellies. I suspect he'll have bruises on his little thighs from my tight grasp, but that's the price of ocean play with a neurotic mommy.
By eleven Atticus was just worn out so we all came in, had some lunch and took a nap. In the afternoon we went over to the Kitty Hawk children's expo. Jakie can now explain more about the physics of flight. Atti and I will stick with the "planes go up" explanation. Then it was back to beach to work up an appetite for the seafood eat-athon! More after!

Day one at the beach
We drove the monkeys down to the outer
banks. Day one consisted of stopping at the farm stand for a lengthy exploration of the awesome local produce and pastry (d scored his favorite- homemade apple fritter)!
After that it was off to the beach. There were some jellies, which upset Jake. Then he turned to us and said it was just like Nemo and off he went! Atticus was so excited he literally spun in circles squealing.
After that it was off to get a big seafood dinner! The boys went nuts and ate the entire ocean!

Pity party for two please.
Know what more pathetic than one grown up sulking and pouting cause their full summer vacation is over? Two of us moping around, sulking and pouting because summer vacation is over.
I want to avoid getting showered up and ready at this hour as some means of delaying the inevitable, but all that's really going to do is make me sulky, mopey, smelly, and late.
Sigh...

They Are Kinda Cute
You know, as the mom of two boys, I've learned something. When they are not trying to drive me or each other totally crazy these two really are totally cute.
They've taken to sleeping in the same bed (they opted to share a room originally) as Jake learned that Atticus is a pretty good snuggler. It's totally sweet to see them curled up next to each other, each giving the other back pats.
Oh, and they like ice cream.
