Ahh, home. So nice to be here. So nice not to be on airplanes any longer! Whew!
We had an awesome weekend! From shelling at Sanibel (thanks for the idea, Mom) to holding an alligator, it was all super awesome. The kids stayed up late, skipped naps, and had more sugar than normal (which is none, as an aside) and it didn't matter one bit. When they were overtired and goofy, Dave and I didn't care cause we were the only ones who were impacted. We made big homemade dinners in the evening so they were able to totally unwind and crash whenever. Parentally speaking, it was stress free bliss. I am pretty sure that is the definition of a perfect vacation. No offense to the world at large, but chilling out in relative isolation for a few days was so totally stress free I may become a hermit. It really reinforced for me how much the world expects of young children today- from being "proper" in restaurants to needing to process so much information so quickly and socialize all day as the school day gets longer. While all the knowledge that comes with that is equally awesome, allowing them freedom from that comes all too infrequently. Suffice it to say the break was welcomed by all of us!
Hopefully the shift back to the real world will be a gentle one.
