Jake Learns to Ski

YouTube Video

We spent the week up in the mountains with Dave's family. We skied a little, ate a lot, and yammered a lot. It's an interesting thing traveling with two boys who are so different. Jake is my traveler, ready to roll and jump into everything. Atti, on the other hand, is a true homebody and becomes filled with aggeda (sp?) within 1 hour of being away from the familiar.

For those of you who knew my great grandma (and wasn't she a damn stitch?) he's sorta the embodiment of her when we travel. He walks around touching everything, checking to see if it's clean, occasionally shaking his head and clucking his tongue. He looks things over and says "Mama, who's chair is THAT? Me no sit in yucky chair!". It's somewhat amusing that my little football fanatic is also an eighty year old Jewish woman on the inside. This morning he woke up coughing cause of the dry air and said "Me sick." When "Me sick" failed to garner the desired response he followed it up with "Me sooooooo sick." Still nothing. Finally he threw his hands in the air and came in the other room (where we had all been listening via baby monitor to his plight) laid himself down at my feet and said "Me sick."

Grandma lives on!

Cookie making

Natasha, Jem, and Sophie came over to make cookies with us yesterday. Aside from Atticus being sick beyond words, it was a perfect day!

A few weeks back we went to Philly to see aunt Kim and Baki. Aunt Kim took us to the zoo; the boys had an awesome time checking out all the animals!

Thankfully almost done

Dearly mistreated readers,
Are you still there? I know some of you are since I get all your emails asking if I have abandoned the blogasphere? No such luck for you! School has been hectic, kids have been hectic, husband has been hectic (at least when I see him he seems so), puppy has been, well, a puppy.

So what's new? Let's see... the term ends in a week, I have at least ten things left on my to do list for the semester, Dave's out of town, the kids are, all things considered, doing pretty well. Gus is Gus.

Thanksgiving was several days of food and family. All in all, a pretty good typical world around here. Everything is quiet right now, so of course instead of finishing off some much needed work, here I sit knitting a hat.

Amazon Subscriptions???

My previously beloved, and now down right worship worthy, sister in law told me about Amazon subscriptions. Am I the only mom out there who missed the memo? This is the greatest thing in the world!!! Basically you sign up on Amazon to buy the things you regularly need (and in our house run out of) from them. You can select how many and how often you want them delivered; then they deliver them. PLUS... shipping is free.... PLUS.. they give you an extra 15% off. You can cancel them whenever you want without penalty. Over ordered? No worries, you can skip a month. Didn't order enough? They can send more whenever you want.

I am so excited I might wet my pants....

Halloween 2010

This year Jake went as Robin Hood and Atticus went as a backhoe bucket bulldozer.
It was awesome to spend this one in LA; both the boys were thrilled to show their family their costumes!

and his backhoe bucket loaded (which, yes, lacked a backhoe. shhh).
Please note that all the parts work including the bucket loader, the head lights, and the tail lights. Yep, that's how we roll.

Robin Hood

I made Jacob his Robin Hood costume. He was thrilled. Robbing candy from the rich to feed the poor.
The boys really liked showing off their costumes to GG.

Cousin Jess Comes to School

Jake's class had a "Guys Only" pumpkin carving. Don't ask me why that is or what that is in a class that is 60% girls. Anyway, Dave was out of town so Cousin Jess awesomely agreed to come into the classroom to carve a pumpkin with Jake. What we didn't know was that he would be leading a group. As Jake explained "You better listen to him cause he drives a submarine."

Anyway, they measured their pumpkins and counted the segments. Jake had an awesome time and Jess didn't seem like he was any worse for the wear.

THANKS JESS!
