Field Day

Field day was yesterday at Jake's school. For those of you playing along at home, field day is one of those things schools do at the end of the year to kill time while they wait to meet the 180 day attendance requirement. Basically they plan a lot of activities and let the kids play all morning. What's the problem with that, you ask? Well it's June. Which makes it hot as son and an ill planned time for running around chaos.
To Venable Elementary's credit, they didn't even pretend this was anything but a dead day. Jake's teacher asked if I could come help for the morning since they'd need extra help; turns out she called in sick for the day...
After three hours of running around the class had lunch and then quiet time. That was literally the entire day/ field day, lunch, rest hour, recess, home. Jake came home laughing that he didn't have to read anything all day.
However he did an amazing job on the rock wall..
